Volleyball is my favorite sport to play with my friends and family. I started playing volleyball at the age of twelve in seventh grade. I didn't like it very much because my wrists would hurt from the hit. The sting of the impact hurt like someone pounding a hammer on your arms. Sometimes, I even got hit in the face by a spike. I got a few bloody noses or two. As time went on, I grew to love it. I loved the way the ball hit my wrist and bounced off. I loved the way the ball spun and flicked off my palm when I served. Directing the ball right to the corner or between two people to confuse them is an incredible feeling.
It is an even better feeling when you have teammates that you can trust and battle along side with them. In eighth grade, it was where I found a couple of people that love playing volleyball as much as I do. I shared a special bond with them. They became one of my closest friends. One of them is Leonard Te. We have a mutual understanding in volleyball where we don't need to talk to each other to know which one of us will receive it. Leonard and I play back row in volleyball and our job is to receive the ball and bump it to the setter. We play and know each other so well, we don't need to call for the ball. It is almost like we have telepathy. My other close friend is Justin Sak. I have only met him for a couple of year but through volleyball we got pretty close. We even won eighth grade volleyball championship together and that's not what most people could say with their friends. We all share a love for volleyball.

I wish I could play volleyball too, because it was really fun back then playing with friends. I feel really cool because you mentioned me!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that you're passionate about something! I wish I had I sport that meant a lot to me too. You should definitely keep your volleyball until you're old and gray so you can show your kids a big part of your early life and show what was important to you. Hopefully, you join the volleyball team this year!
ReplyDeleteYou and Leonard should have joined Volleyball last year with me. So it could have been like Sophomore year. Dude it was pretty brutal last year because I was lonely , sad face tear drop.
ReplyDeleteI've already told you but, one time I got hit in the face with a soccer ball at shed park and had a terrible bloody nose. So I know it does not feel good. I love how much passion you have for volleyball. You should never lose that. I personally, think you are very good at volleyball. You need to show off these skills so that later on in life you won't have any regrets. Hopefully, one day you'll become a famous volleyball player and shower me in gifts!
ReplyDeleteWhy not continue your passion for volleyball with LHS Team? Consider it and maybe take Leonard with you.
ReplyDelete(I really like your background XD)!
ReplyDeleteWow, even though I didn't go to the butler, this brings back so many memories! It was an intense championship game with my school against yours. I was actually rooting for you guys. In the end you guys DID win (Congrats!).
OH I also remember how Leonard had a giant nose pimple, but you can see it in the group picture :(.
I also love volleyball man, and I regret not trying out for the team during high school
ReplyDeleteI know that feeling of getting hurt while doing something you love. So many banged-up elbow and knee scrapes from skateboarding, but those are love scars. Love your background.
ReplyDeleteI remember that championship game, I was in the Stoklosa team and I came in late so I didn't get to play.
ReplyDeleteThe injuries while playing just make for more dramatic stories to tell later. They make you sound dedicated and tough!
ReplyDeletesmoke you 1v1 real quick
